Welcome to the Department of Veterinary Medicine and Public Health

Department work to prevent risks and threats to health based on populations. Deal with sanitary production of goods, qualities of products and inspection of edible animal products for hygiene and safety to humans; meat, milk, eggs, cheese, ghee, sausages and other products as well as sanitation of production plants and factories for these products against unwholesome meat, milk adulterations.

The Department of Veterinary Medicine and Public Health train personnel for;-
Public Health; preventing diseases, prolonging life and promoting health through organized efforts and informed choices of society, organizations, public and private, communities and individuals.
Department runs training in general public health; food processing, preservation and storage, water sanitation and appropriate waste disposal. human safety against sick animals, (zoonosis, emerging pandemic disease threats zika, ebola, HIV Aids), and food contaminations, food poisons and intoxications.
Veterinary Medicine; diseases of domestic and wild animals, diagnosis, treatment, prevention and control, animal behaviour, animal handling and restraining, special training of animals such as dogs. Policies, Legislature and Parliamentary Acts on domestic and wildlife health.
In addition to training the staff in the department will perform research, consultancy, outreach and any innovations in those areas.
